I'm a Sherlock Holmes in the Making

Oh yeah! This is another easy one by Nuffnang. I heart Nuffnang so much. They offer bloggers so much, that it encourages me to keep on blogging!

Just have to find this hidden image within 2 bloggers' blog. So so simple. Now I just hope I'll get the invites.

SHERLOCK HOLMES
In a dynamic new portrayal of Arthur Conan Doyle’s most famous characters, “Sherlock Holmes” sends Holmes and his stalwart partner Watson on their latest challenge. Revealing fighting skills as lethal as his legendary intellect, Holmes will battle as never before to bring down a new nemesis and unravel a deadly plot that could destroy the country.

The action-adventure mystery “Sherlock Holmes” is helmed by acclaimed filmmaker Guy Ritchie, for Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures. Robert Downey Jr. brings the legendary detective to life, and Jude Law stars as Holmes’ trusted colleague, Watson, a doctor and war veteran who is a formidable ally for Sherlock Holmes. Rachel McAdams stars as Irene Adler, the only woman ever to have bested Holmes and who has maintained a tempestuous relationship with the detective. Mark Strong stars as their mysterious new adversary, Blackwood. Kelly Reilly plays Watson’s love interest, Mary.

Synopsis courtesy of Nuffnang.

I know I'm going to enjoy this movie because I absolutely adore the cast! Especially Rachel McAdams and oh boy isn't Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr a delicious combo?

Dear friends, if you want to get a chance to watch this awesome movie with me. Wish me luck! Cheers!

Oh So Fabulous

It's been really crazy with assignments - thesis writing, web design project, meeting deadlines and preparing for work next week. I still found time to attend some awesome events. Yeah me!

There was Chic Pop Street Market 2, held at Zouk KL, last Sunday. It's organized by my favourite online fashion blog - Tongue in Chic. They always have cool stuffs like this going on.

I bought a bag and a dress and it only cost me RM70. Splurge!

There was this Yahoo! booth and they gave out tags and stencils as invitation to their Youreka! Finale Party which went down yesterday.

Pictures courtesy of Michelle Tan, Her Memory Lane. "I stole from your blog nut! Don't bite me please!"

Youreka! Finale Part organized by Yahoo!, sponsored by Adidas and can't remember who. Hosted by JJ and Ean and featuring performances by Bunkface. The highlight for this party was the challenge among those who got the purple tag. We were there to watch 13 people play musical chair and dressed up in Sumo suits to compete for a MacBook Air and Blackberry Phones. How sad! The plus was there were quite some interesting booths and SWAG. I really enjoyed Bunkface's performance and I left early.

Bunkface! Cute lead singer. Great performance.

The final challenge between two remaining finalists, arrange the letters in a Sumo suit. The girl won. The rest walked away with Blackberry Curve phones and Adidas shoes.

I got a chance to wear my boots with the top I bought from Chic Pop Street Market. If you think boots are awesome too say Aye!

Alright, no more events or parties on my calender for now. Till next time, toodles!

The Time Traveler's Wife

Yes! I've finally watched the movie after it began showing 2 weeks ago. I watched it with my mom and we brought a big pack of tissue with us. We always need that for soppy movies.

We enjoyed the movie, it was funny and sad all at the same time. We cried a lot when Henry died. The storyline of the movie was different from the book. Some characters and important settings were omitted. I shall not go into details, there's too many and I'm too lazy.

The movie is quite light, not as depressing as the book. In the book, Clare practically waits for Henry her entire life, until she turns old. In the movie, Clare managed to see Henry one last time and he asked her to 'stop waiting'. It gives viewer a sense of contentment and the 'happy ending'. But I prefer the book's version, as it is somewhat more tragic, sad and it reminds readers that people can't control fate. And I like it that way.

What I love about the movie is the beginning. I think they chose the perfect scene to start the story - where the Henry's mother dies and he time traveles for the first time. What I don't like was this major prop continuation error that was so obvious, you just can't miss it. It happens after Henry's vasectomy, he was at Clare's studio telling her what he had done. Clare was doing her work and that's where you can see the major continuation error on her workstation. If you missed it, you must be blinded by Rachel McAdams pretty face (and I think I can forgive you for that).

Overall, this movie is worth watching. It's great to see how they translate everything onto the big scree. The movie gives you a different feeling from the book, not that I'm complaining. I also adore Rachel McAdams (from The Notebook). So I rank it 7/10. If you haven't read the book, please go read it. You don't know what you're missing out on.

The band at the wedding that was playing during Clare and Henry's first dance was awful. Wrong song for such a beautiful occasion. Minus 1 point!

I didn't see this scene in the movie! I rank 3/10 for TGV Sunway Pyramid.

The end bit - suspense.

This is how the book look like, just in case you are interested in buying it!

My New Favourite Movie

(500) Days of Summer will be placed way up there with What Dreams May Come. The movie is so fantastic, it's beyond words. I'm not just talking about the storyline (not that shallow). The cinematography is good and the acting is good. It's the best movie I've watched this year. The Soundtrack is out of this world too!

Here is a little snip-it - my favourite part!

I can't wait to get the DVD. (hint: Christmas is 2 months away). Enjoy!

Lipstick Gossip #2

The fourth installment of this exclusive ladies event happened last Thursday and I'm only writing about the second one. Which is the one I've attended with my girlfriend, Michelle.

I got the invites from Tongue in Chic and it was a blast. The party took place at Twenty.one Kitchen + Bar, 30th July 2009, 7pm to 10pm. They served cocktails designed by award winning mixologist Dean Reardon and sweet and savoury canapes. There were a lot of girlie activities lined up - reflexology, manicure, bodyart, makeover, tarot reading, palm reading and hair styling. The party was a ladies-only event dedicated to independent urban women, to let our hair down and get pampered.

Here we are - preparing for the girls' night out.

We arrived at 7.30pm in my chic Black Myvi.

On the street of Changkat Bukit Bintang, KL.

Inside Twenty.one Kitchen + Bar, getting myself my first manicure.

Michelle getting her body art done.

Check out all the ladies in the dark.

Cute and sexy bunny babes! I look flushed after drinking 4 glasses of cocktails.

We really enjoyed ourselves and are looking forward to attending the next Lipstick Gossip!

Click here to read more about this event and check out some cool photos at TiC. Featuring Michelle in Reflexology - lucky girl! I was nowhere to be found, it was like I wasn't even there. Anyway, cheers to being the most awesome gender!
XOXO

The Final Destination

I know I said I'm on a 'laptop ban' session, because I wanted to focus on doing well for my finals. But, I have other commitments, like my beloved blogshop customers. I have to submit their orders, confirm orders with supplier, check for bags status, etc. Hence, me - online - blogging!

I went to watch The Final Destination on Monday after Corp Comm exam to release stress. That is what Dan and I like to call it, instead of 'curi tulang'. The tagline of the movie itself was already a big hinter - that the movie is just another 3D money-making gimmick and it does not display any form of aestheticism. 'Death saved the best for 3D'? DUH! The movie was not true to the Final Destination series (bits and pieces of clues of the way the next person is going to die via premonition? OMG) , all the death scenes looked horribly fake and the acting was bad. Not to mention that the poster visual and the second tagline - 'Rest in Pieces' was really catchy but irrelevant. It was a waste of our youth (as quoted from Mira) and money. Another factor why I didn't enjoy it at all was because I didn't watch it in 3D. After watching UP in 3D, I swore not to watch anymore 3D movies in the cinema. I had a terrible migraine throughout the movie, must be due to that stupid and heavy glasses.

Final Destination 3 remains the best of the 4 series, never trust the reviews from Maxis (they claimed the final installment was the best, bullshit I say). So please, to those who have taste in gory and creepy movies, stay away from this one. I had to watch it because I was a fan. After watching it, I wish I never did. A total insult to my all time favourite movie series.

About the posts I said I will write. I will write it after my exams, when I am in the peaceful and quiet town of Teluk Intan. In the meantime, check out the bags I'm selling at www.price.jimfashion.my and check My Blogshop for details!

OMGBRB

Hello people! As you can tell the posts in this blog have slowed down for sometime already. This is because college is so taxing. I barely have time to get a good night sleep. Plus with exams coming in 2 weeks, you definitely won't be reading anything from me. My exams will only end on 20th September. There are so many things I want to write about that is overdue. I'll write about it once the 'laptop ban' session is over. In the mean time, these are the few post topics I've drafted. Just something we all can look forward to.

1. Lipstick Gossip #2
-I went for this exclusive ladies party on 30th July (I know it's almost one month overdue) at twenty.one Kitchen+Bar. Everything is free including cocktails, canapes, manicure, massage, make over, etc. Will let you in on all the inside scoop about this must-go event. Sorry dudes, babes only.

2. Hello Twenties
- Ok, this one is a personal post. It's about me turning twenty and how I celebrated this dreadful event. FYI, I might decide not to write this.

3.twenty.one kitchen+bar
- Went here for a double date on 20th August to make use of the voucher we got. Just the food, drinks and place review.

4. The Proposal
- 11th August. Movie review. It's a good one! The best movie I've watched this year. The best RomCom next to What Happens in Vegas.

5. Up
- 20th August. Movie review. It's a good one too!

6. Ghost of Girlfriend's Past
- 15th August. Movie review. Boring. Might end up not writing this review too.

7. Myvi Airbags Stolen!
- This one just happened yesterday. The airbags of my Myvi SE got stolen and there was no sign of break and enter. An absolute professional job. It's the hottest case now, all the cops and foremen are aware of this. They even said it was featured on the news. Too bad for me, I have no habit of reading the sad newspapers. To replace the airbags it will cost around RM8000, luckily I can claim from insurance. The worst is there is nothing you can really do about it. Once your car is marked, your airbags are gone. Just hope that you will not be as unlucky as I was. When I have the time, this post will be the first I will write. Do read this one, I will provide all the details.

Alright, that's about it. Wish me luck for my exams. Till then, tata!

G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra

I went to watch this movie 2 days ago with Dan at TGV Times Square. I wasn't very keen on watching it as a couple of my friends said it was pure action and had no storyline, a typical boys' movie. I still went ahead and watched it anyway, because fortunately, Dan is a typical boy at times.

True enough, the movie was all action. Even though it's a pure action movie, not much violence was involved. I wouldn't say the movie does not comprise any storyline, but the plot was rather flat and without climax or intensity. The special effects is too 'special' for me to bear. At certain points, I felt like I was watching a cartoon. Probably I'll be more interested if it was a cartoon. Yet again, if it was a cartoon, I might not even watch it to begin with. Seeing that they put so much effort in the special effects and I wasn't wow-ed by it even for a minute - quite saddening. The other thing that annoyed me during this movie was the slow motions. They used it so often that it becomes plain corny.

The only character that I found interesting was Ripcord (Marlon Wayans). I don't like Marlon Wayans because of his choices of movies like all the Scary Movies. But I have to say, he was the perfect man for Ripcord and he really made me laughed. Channing Tatum was just stoned face as usual, Sienna Miller looked great in black hair and there wasn't much of Dennis Quad, which is a waste.

The movie ended with another typical super-cool-action-heroes-good-triumphed-over-evil scene. Where all the main 'Joes' were lined up in one horizontal line, walking towards the camera, wind is blowing and it was in slow motion (yes, again). Slow-mo ended by Ripcord saying 'Damn, we look good'. Well, I have to agree.

Creative Wedding March and Dance

You know wedding dance, march and the whole charade is somehow suppose to be romantic, lovey dovey, mushy and lined up with so many teary moments. That can be quite the bore from a guest's point of view. Wedding only happens once in a life time (for most people anyway), it's all about being happy on that special day and sharing that special moment with all your loved ones. I've stumbled upon these videos from Youtube that should be a benchmark of all weddings. It's enlightening, sweet and romantic in a very unconventional way.

Creative Wedding March

Kudos to the bride, groom and all the bridesmaids and groomsmen for being such a sport. This is going to be a trend, I just know it will be.

P/S:I think I'll like to do this for my wedding (somewhere in the distant future), seeing that I love dancing so much. It only makes sense!

Creative First Dance
This is another video I found on Youtube, this is a very cool way to do your First Dance.

Again very unconventional and not too mushy, but yet it comes across as romantic and sweet. You can see everyone is just having fun, including the bride and groom. This is how a wedding should be like!

The Breast Cancer Dance

This is a powerful choreography by Emmy Nominee - Tyce Diorio. He choreographed this dance based on his friend's battle against breast cancer experience. This elegant and emotional Breast Cancer Tribute was performed by Melissa and Ade on So You Think You Can Dance to the music 'This Woman's Work' by Maxwell. All the judges and audiences were moved to tears. I cried watching this dance piece, I think a lot of us can relate to the emotions that were expressed by the dancers. Take a good look at it and tell me what you think.

Yasmin Ahmad

Film director Yasmin Ahmad in hospital (Update 6)

KUALA LUMPUR: Critically-acclaimed movie and TV commercial director Yasmin Ahmad underwent emergency surgery at a hospital here after suffering a stroke at about 4:30pm on Thursday.

She was at Sri Pentas at TV3 for a meeting with pop diva Datuk Siti Nurhaliza and her husband Datuk Khalid Jiwa when she reportedly felt unwell and had difficulty breathing.

Siti, who was an ambassador for the Malaysian Red Crescent Society, immediately administered CPR, together with a TV3 panel doctor.

Film director Yasmin Ahmad

When they could not revive her, they immediately sent to the Intensive Care Unit at the Damansara Specialist Centre. Doctors there administered CPR and stabilised her before performing surgery at about 6pm to reduce the swelling in her brain.

Doctors said she was in stable but critical condition.

A host of Malaysian personalities were at the hospital, including Siti and Khalid, Suria FM’s Engku Emran, TV3 CEO Farid Jamaluddin, and indie filmmakers James Lee, Pete Teo, Liew Seng Tat.

According to former journalist and actress Fatimah Abu Bakar, Yasmin’s parents caught the 7pm flight from Langkawi to be at her side.

Datuk Dr Zakaria Zahari, Yasmin’s brother-in-law, said that her condition was stable but critical and will be monitored.

He requested that the media present at the hospital respect the family’s wishes and leave the premises to pray for Yasmin’s recovery.

Yasmin, 51, the director of Sepet, is particularly well known for the community message commercials she directed for Petronas.

She began her career in advertising as a copywriter at Ogilvy & Mather, eventually rising to creative director at Leo Burnett Kuala Lumpur.

Her movies have won many international awards and have been screened at the Berlin, San Francisco, Singapore and Cannes international film festivals.

Last November, she was inducted into the inaugural Malaysian Advertising Hall of Fame by the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Malaysia.

Article taken from The Star online at 8.21 pm, 23 July 2009.
Today is the day where the first Malaysian-Yasmin Ahmad was on the top of Twitter's Trending Topics. Let's all pray for her and hope that she gets well. I read her blog often enough to tell that she is kind, humble and down to earth. Even though she is a celebrity, she will reply comments personally and talks to everyone equally.

Dear Kak Yasmin,

Your movies and commercials have always touched our hearts and reminded us how proud we should be to be Malaysians. Today, you brought to us together again. You were the top of Twitter's Trending Topics. This just proves how Malaysians can unite. I really hope you will recover and see this for yourself. You will definitely be moved by all the things people are saying now, they are praying that you will be fine. Please be well.

Love,
Tammy

Updated 26 July 2009.

Yasmin Ahmad passed away at about 11.25 pm last night. She's the great storyteller who brought us beautiful movies and advertisements. I wish I had the chance to get to know her personally. You're a legend and we will always remember you. Rest in Peace. We'll miss you.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

I LOVE THE HARRY POTTER SERIES! So it's no surprise, that I bought the Premier tickets 3 days before the premier. Me and my cousins have been going on and on about it and we were so excited. On the 16th July 2009, we went to One Utama (muggles' shopping mall) TGV (muggles' cinema) to watch HP6. Before we apparated to O.U., me and Nadia decided we should get ourselves wands that were imported from Ollivander.

Mine is made out of Willow and Phoenix tail feather and Nadia's is made out of Vine Wood and Unicorn hair. Aren't they pretty?

When we apparated to O.U., none of us vomited, even though it was our first time (we're as tough as Harry!).

Nadia the Death Eater! Aurors! Get her!

Best part about magic? With the flick of your wand, food just magically appears!

Stupefy!

Stupefy me again and I shall use the Cruciatus Curse on you!

Move and I will use the Sectumsempra spell on you!

A war has taken place in O.U.! Watch out muggles!

No it wasn't a coincidence, I purposely dressed like Hermione Granger. Isn't that cool?!

Nadia wishes this was Harry instead...

One family portrait. (P/S: If you don't see us moving in the picture, this means you're just an ordinary being, there isn't a single trace of magic in you.)

Now, let's save this precious piece of memory in the Pensieve.

Review:
The movie was not that good. There was more focus on love triangles, snogging and relationships. I didn't cry when Albus Dumbledore died, that scene from the movie just didn't come across as powerful as from the book. A lot of scenes, characters and details were omitted. Any HP fan will be disappointed. I hope that the last episode will be better. It should be the best episode among all, it should end with a big Bang!

Till we me meet again...
