Drag Me to Hell

I didn't have the urge to watch a horror movie in a long time. But somehow when I saw the trailer for Drag Me to Hell and knew Justin Long was starring in this movie, I was dying to watch it. So I checked Twitter and saw what others have to say and most people mentioned it was scary. Subsequently, I went to watch this movie with the aim to be scared till I jump out of my seat, scream and be afraid to sleep alone for the next few nights. I got more than what I bargained for.

The truth is Drag Me to Hell is not a typical horror film, it is a many times funny and startling horror movie. I should have checked Rotten Tomatoes reviews before watching this movie (darn twitterers).

When the movie just begun, there were already many signs. The typical old fashioned typography for the title of the movie, the overused lurking creepy hand shadows, and the corny lines. There were wrestling, pointless events, dancing, cool visual effects, obviously fake visual effects, romance, somethings that doesn't make sense, startling scenes, scary music, more corny lines and cast shadows, buzzing hell-flies, eyeball, goo, maggots, and last but not least a talking goat.

Throughout the movie, I laughed and I screamed. Drag Me to Hell is in a totally new genre, which I like to call Corror/Homedy/Horredy, a mixture of Horror and Comedy. If this was what Sam Raimi intended to do, then he definitely did an excellent job.

On a personal note, if the cursed object is not the necklace. Your poster shouldn't show that the hell-hand is pulling the girl by the necklace.

Best Way to Say Goodbye to Friends

My friend which I've known ever since the first year of Diploma is going back to his hometown and no longer staying in KL. He played and sang this song as a dedication to all his friends that he has made during his stay here. He's also one of the few people I know that can really sing. I always wondered why he didn't make a breakthrough because he's really talented. Anyway Chester, if you ever get signed, don't forget me! Thank you for everything, it's been a pleasure knowing you and I wish you all the best.

Remember, this isn't goodbye, this is see you somewhere in the near future. Keep in touch and cheers!

17 Again

What would you do if you get a second shot at life? I think anyone that's smart enough would say nothing and the movie just proves this point. 17 Again is sweet, sentimental and funny. An extremely enjoyable teen comedy.

Let me clarify something first, I am not a big fan of Zac Efron because I am not a big fan of the HSM trilogy and I think he was dorky in Hairspray, even though it was a good movie. But I've got to admit that he did a pretty good job in this movie and he looked extremely delicious. Director Burr Steers somehow manages to capture all the good sides of Zac Efron on camera. Zac Efron looks handsome from every angle and mesmerizing no matter what he's doing on screen (even crying)! I think this movie should be called Zac Efron Again instead! Did I mention he looks extremely delicious, mesmerizing and good looking?

I also have to say kudos to Thomas Lennon for doing a great job as Ned Gold - the dorky high school best friend which turns out to be a cool, funny and interesting fella. He nearly made me LMAO.

My Sister's Keeper

This is for my Buy a Book and Read it Challenge 2009 for the month of May. I've fulfilled my challenge as I finished reading this book on the 31st of May. Just that I've been procrastinating to write this review for a week now, but I've finally gotten my myself to do it. I bought this book because of the interesting cover and title. I was confident that this was going to be a good read because I believe that a book has to be good in order for it to be produced into a film. My Sister's Keeper the movie stars Cameron Diaz, Abigail Breslin and Joan Cusack. The movie will release in UK and US on 26th of June 2009.

My Sister's Keeper is about 13 years old Anna filing a law suit against her parents for medical emancipation. The reason being Anna is a genetically engineered baby to be a perfect match donor for her older sister of 3 years Kate and Anna wants to stop being a donor. Kate was diagnosed with APL at the age of three and has undergone countless surgeries, transfusions and shots and so did Anna. Anna's decision to do so will tear her family apart and cause fatal consequences for the sister which is also best friend whom she loves.

What I like about this book is the way the story is told. Each chapter is told from a different character's perspective. You are able to step into each of the character's shoes, learn about their experiences, the decisions they've made and are about to make and understand the reasons behind their decisions. This novel emphasizes on how one person's decision can have a domino effect on other people's lives. It also keeps you pondering on how does one define what's right or wrong and if you were in one of the character's shoes, will you do anything differently? I would highly recommend this book to those who don't mind controversial and heartbreaking stories.

P/S: Mom, don't read this book, you can't take it. I've told you the story already anyway. Cheers!

The Movie Poster

Can't wait for it to be screening in Malaysia!

Me, Myself & Tammy

  • About Me
I am perky and can be real cranky at times. A perfectionist with many flaws. I am a hypocrite when it comes to certain things. I only do things I love to do. When it comes to things I am passionate about, I give it my 100%. I love those who love me. I appreciate those who have been kind to me. Without these people I would not be who I am today.
